My son was never a fan of sports games. Football, basketball – none of that appealed to him. But one day he accidentally saw a video about chess tournaments and said that he wanted to learn how to play. I decided not to put it off and signed him up for lessons with a grandmaster chess coach.

At first he was nervous: he thought it would be difficult and boring. But after the first lesson he came home with shining eyes. He told how to open the game correctly, how to protect the king and why pawns are not just "small fry" but a whole army that you need to know how to use.

With each lesson, his passion only grew. The grandmaster chess coach knows how to explain things to children in such a way that even complex things become understandable. A month later, my son was already confidently beating me in home games, although he had not even known what castling was before.

Now he has a new hobby: he watches recordings of Carlsen and Fischer's games, writes down the moves in a notebook and trains every day. And recently he participated in a school tournament for the first time and took third place. For him, this is a huge achievement.

I am glad that I have found an activity for him that is not only interesting, but also develops thinking, attention and self-confidence. Chess has become a part of his life, and I am sure that this is only the beginning.
